Glenwood is a safe-place for
kids to live, learn and grow. With campuses in Glenwood and
St. Charles, Glenwood is a preventative residential-educational
program serving lower-income mostly single-parent families
facing difficult circumstances. Founded in 1887 and praised
for its traditional values, Glenwood is a children’s
charity, supported entirely by the community. Glenwood gives
children a better chance at life!
Glenwood School is a year-round program that exists for the
single parent or guardian who is raising a family, trying
to make a living and only wants the best for his or her children.
Parents can enroll their children directly at Glenwood at
any time, and they can rest assured knowing that their children
are in a safe, stable and structured environment.
Children live in cottages with experienced and caring houseparents,
many with families of their own, and 10-12 other children.
Each residential cottage is tastefully furnished to provide
a pleasant home-like environment. Children eat decent meals,
attend private grade school, do their homework, participate
in wholesome activities and learn traditional values.
Glenwood’s on-campus fully-accredited elementary schools
enroll students in grades 2 through 8. They are staffed by
teachers with first-hand knowledge of our students’
needs. The average class size is 12-15 students, which allows
children to receive more individualized attention. Glenwood
also has a Resource Education Program for those students requiring
individual educational plans.
We also offer a Day Program at both of our campuses for families
who need a safe, caring environment for their grade school
boys and girls during a typical workday. Day students are
involved in all campus and summer activities along with their
cottage classmates.
